About the event
Join us for talks from guest speakers and learn more about The Josephine Butler Society. Followed by a walk to Crossbones Graveyard for remembrance and reflection. Free food and refreshments available!
All are welcome to attend, there is no need to book in advance - just turn up!
Guest Speakers
Iman
Iman in a campaigner and Legal Researcher, fighting for better laws and regulations for the protection of ALL women and girls from violence.
She will be discussing visual violence, decriminalisation and fighting to ensure ALL Sex Workers are FULLY protected under universal rights to an effective remedy (as enshrined within various international instruments).
Dr Rosie Campbell
Dr Rosie Campbell will present initial findings from the research project funded by West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board "Working together to remove barriers" which is exploring the health needs of women working in street sex work in West Yorkshire and current specialist health provisions for street sex workers in the region. 'The project is being carried out by a team at University of Huddersfield and University of Leeds.
Dr Lilith Brouwers
Dr Lilith Brouwers is a research fellow in Gender and Labour at the University of Leeds, and has consulted on research for National Ugly Mugs, the UKHSA, and a range of grassroots sex worker rights organisations. They will be speaking about third parties in sex work (managers, colleagues, security, assistants etc.), and the way that third party criminalisation affects sex workers.
About the Venue
Arch 23 is located just off the main road inside Flat Iron Square. Toilets are available and the venue is on the ground floor and accessible with step-free access.
